High plains RALLy 2007

West Frontier Park in Hays, Kansas was the site for the 10th Annual High Plains Rally electric car race.  Too bad they weren’t racing wind powered cars this year because the wind was something fierce.  Wheatland High School took home the Team Spirit Award this year.  Scott City burned up the track placing 1st and 3rd in the Experimental Class and placing 2nd and 3rd in the Standard Class.  The team from North Platte, NE returned this year after missing last year due to inclement weather.  Their return brought a 1st place victory along with a 4th place finish, both in the standard class.

in cooperation with sponsors

Western Cooperative Electric, Sunflower Electric Power Corp, Pioneer Electric, Victory Electric, Prairie Land Electric, 

and Midwest Energy Inc.

 

 

Pictured above:  The Electric Truck from Fort Hays State University Department of Technology Studies was the pace car for the first lap of each race.

Sunflower Electric Power Corporation provided the grill for lunch.

 

 

Sponsors provided food for all the workers, teams and spectators who attended the event.
